Orijen - Workspace Experience and Management Style
ORIJEN have an integrated production chain.
The research and innovation team of the Orijen company works with a group of animal nutritionists and consults vets specializing in nutrition, toxicology and holistic medicine in the development of the Orijen diet.
Unlike other pet food factories, Orijen own independent production of pet food. Because they considered the danger of outsourcing the products is that they lose control. They cannot control all aspects of production, even cannot expect others to produce products as hard as they do. They think outsourcing is risk.
President and CEO, FRANK BURDZY said, "one thing that’s exciting about being a Champion is whether it’s me walking around when we bring guests in. They comment on how important and vibrant our culture is."
ORIJEN testing of animals
The employees they asked for loved pets and the business. That will ensure they love what they do and able to control every step of the way.
They only test their dogs and cats , such as palatability tests (taste), digestibility testing (through stool analysis only), and AAFCO feeding trials.
Why do they insist on experimenting with their pets? Because they are responsible for believing that if their dogs and cats don't work, neither can other dogs and cats. With their trial process and commitment, who would question the quality of their products?
What is AAFCO feeding trials?
In the pet food industry, AAFCO plays an important role in ensuring that pet food manufacturers provide complete and balanced food for pet safety.
AAFCO states that all pet food must meet at least one of the following requirements :
Balanced formulation
Completion of a feeding trial
Belong to a diet family
AAFCO defines family products as products that are similar, but not identical, to one which has been subjected to animal feeding tests. The differences may include minor formulation changes that do not affect the products’ nutritional basis.
A standard AAFCO Feeding Trial only requires testing for four blood parameters to evaluate overall health. But at champion pet-food company, Orijen added additional measurements, in order to observe the kidney, liver and heart health of pet, and Metabolism, digestibility and immune response. This rigorous approach to production provides an accurate overall picture of animal health while on our Orijen diets.
